About Larry:
Mesa, Arizona artist Larry Yanez is a renaissance man of sorts- he's a visual artist, musician, educator, art installation expert, arts advocate, comedian, yoga enthusiast, husband, father and wanna-be "Chicano Samurai." His love of art, music and life is contagious. Larry was born in Yuma, Arizona. His love of the southwest, hispanic traditions and popular culture are apparent in his art. Common themes and symbols such as cacti, 1950's refrigerators and Catholic Saints fill the colorfully graphic scenes in his sculptures, prints and paintings. He has a bachelor of fine arts in sculpture from Arizona State University, worked for the Arizona Commission on the Arts for 25 years and participated in workshops and art organizations such as Self Help Graphics in Los Angeles, Movimiento Artistico del Rio Salado (MARS) in Phoenix and Xicanindio Artes in Mesa.
